Description:

This vacancy is for a GS-1801-13, Marine Inspector Training Officer located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, USCG MARINE SAFETY UNIT PORT ARTHUR. Duty location will be determined upon selection.

Requirements:

To qualify at the GS- 13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Specialized experience must include the following:?????

  • Knowledge of the maritime industry and the specialized area of marine vessel inspections
  • Deliver briefing papers, technical analyses, training and qualification analysis and option evaluations for the Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection, where inspection decisions may have broad impact on industry, are controversial in nature or are expected to be appealed to a higher authority
  • Knowledge of laws, treaties, conventions, regulations and directives relating to vessel navigation, engineering, inspection, manning and pollution prevention
  • Ability to plan and direct new inspection and training techniques and programs on an on-going basis, applying new theories and developments to resolve critical problems with a great variety and complexity of marine vessel safety inspections
  • Knowledge and practical utilization of Quality Management systems

NOTE: Education can NOT be substituted for experience at this grade level.
