Network and Security Engineer opportunity! - DIRECT HIRE FULL TIME

Overview:

Our client, an automotive aftermarket distribution company, is looking to hire a full-time, direct hire Network and Security Engineer to join their expanding team and work onsite at their Arlington, TX office. Please note that sponsorship is not available at this time.

Job Summary:

The Network & Security Engineer role focuses on modernizing network infrastructure and enhancing security. The ideal candidate has experience redesigning networks for performance, reliability, and security while proactively managing threats and ensuring compliance. They should have a strong background as a Network and/or Security Engineer, with expertise in networking protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF, along with SD-WAN. Hands-on experience with firewalls, IDS/IPS, and security frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001 is essential. Preferred certifications include CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, Security+, or CEH. Additionally, the role requires a willingness to travel up to 50% for projects and operational support.

Responsibilities:

Network Engineering:

  • Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot network hardware and software (SDWAN, firewalls, switches, VPNs).
  • Collaborate with IT teams to redesign, optimize and integrate the current network environment to meet evolving business needs.
  • Routinely conduct network performance analysis to ensure reliability and scalability.
  • Maintain documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures.

Security Engineering:

  • Develop, implement, manage and enforce security policies, and best practice security measures for IT environment. Including but not limited to network & firewall rules, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SaaS resources (Azure, Intune, Okta, etc.) and endpoints.
  • Monitor and analyze security threats, vulnerabilities, and incidents.
  • Conduct risk assessments and penetration testing to identify security gaps.
  • Ensure compliance with industry security standards and regulations.
  • Respond to and remediate security breaches or incidents as needed.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Network Engineer and/or Security Engineer in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
  • Experience in redesigning and modernizing network infrastructures.
  • Hands-on experience with firewall configurations, IDS/IPS, and security monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and best practices.
  • Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CISSP, CompTIA Security+, CEH).
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% for projects and operations.
