About the Position: This position is located at the Provost Marshal Department at Tripler Army Medical Center on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii.

Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veterans' Preference so long as such applicants are available for appointment.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement:

Experience: Experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided a knowledge of protective systems and techniques. Acceptable experience includes service in the Armed Services or Coast Guard that involved the performance of guard duties on a regular or intermittent basis. For Security Guard positions in a hospital setting, experience as a psychiatric nursing assistant or a similar position safeguarding patients is qualifying.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) providing guard services for the protection of life (employees, visitors, patients, etc.); 2) executing physical security and crime prevention programs; 3) responding to incidents, providing written reports of suspicious persons or items and 4) performing access control ensuring physical security of facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
