This position is located in the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Patient Care Services/Primary Care (PC) Service and provides administrative program support to the PC Chief, PC Assistant Chief, Social Workers, GEM, TBI/SCI, Geriatrics, Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) Director, Staff Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Community Based Outpatient Clinic staff, and Administrative staff as needed.Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/06/2026.You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of general office duties such as arranging conferences, meetings, routing mail, composing and typing correspondence, preparation, and maintenance of personnel forms, and organizing and maintaining files and manuals; Knowledge of patient confidentiality laws such as Health Information Portability and Accountability (HIPPA); Knowledge and ability to utilize Microsoft products; Knowledge of computer applications/systems, including clear understanding, comprehension and successful use of all VHA clinical and safety data management tools, intranet, Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA); knowledge of time and attendance keeping; knowledge of standard procedures related to the analysis, collection, compilation, and/or tracking of data and statistical information with the ability to correctly report the findings; must be an accurate typist and exhibit skill in transcribing and typing memorandums, forms, reports, etc., quickly and accurately; knowledge of goals, priorities, administrative policy/procedures, and recurring reports; excellent organizational skills, and be able to plan effectively and be adaptable and flexible; must be able to cope with a variety of simultaneous unrelated tasks and to deal with frequent interruptions, demanding change of focus while remaining task and deadline oriented, and to effectively prioritize multiple tasks to meet strict timelines.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as; papers, books, small parts, or driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
